Fun Things to do in May in the Great Smoky Mountains

We have a few days left in May to come and enjoy Springtime in the Smokies, before the hustle and bustle of tourist season, starting Memorial Day weekend.  Somethings you may have not thought of but may find fund things to do are listed below for you to explore.  Whether you want to stay close to Gatlinburg, or Pigeon Forge, the Beary Blessed Cabin is right in between both cities with quick access to both of them and the many attractions and restaurants for your convenience.

29th Annual Dolly's Homecoming Parade

Like most parades, the Pigeon Forge Dolly Parade is filled with marching bands, entertainers, floats, baton twirlers, horses and other colorful entries. What makes this parade different? It's namesake and our grand marshal, Miss Dolly Parton! 
Gatlinburg Beans and Cornbread Blast

New for 2014! Gatlinburg celebrates it's Appalachian culinary past with the Gatlinburg Beans 'n Cornbread Blast! presented by Bush Brothers Beans. Vendors will compete against each other with their special recipes and you get to help decide the winner! Bush Brothers Beans will be featured throughout the event. A small fee will allow participants to sample all the different recipes while supplies last.

Go on a search for spring wildflowers or explore the world of bird watching on a hike in the Great Smoky Mountains with Guided Hiking tours or learn about Gatlinburg’s past and present during the Guided Downtown Gatlinburg Tours.

Titanic Princess Tea Party

The Titanic Museum Attraction is hosting it's 3rd Titanic Princess Tea Party in honor of all of the young ladies of Tennessee on Saturday May 3rd. A time-honored ritual in gracious living. Mini-manner lessons will be taught by Titanic’s First Class Maid Jamie. Each princess will learn etiquette, proper table settings and service skills while enjoying finger sandwiches and cookies. Sevierville's Bloomin' Barbeque & Bluegrass is a family oriented event celebrating the beauty of spring, championship barbeque and world class bluegrass music. Join the fun with free admission, live concerts and barbecue from all over the United States in historic downtown Sevierville on May 16 & 17. This Barbeque Cook-Off is an official barbeque championship of the state of Tennessee and is coordinated by the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce.
