Cheap Fun Filled Day in Great Smoky Mountains

Your family is sure to love the Smoky Mountain River Rat, it is one of my family's favorites!  Like I tell all our guest at the Beary Blessed Cabin that come during the summer months, this is a must!  A full day of tubing for only $13 per person for all day tubing, you can't beat this kind of fun at this price!  If your family loves the water and wants a new adventure, be sure to put this on your list of things to do.

Here is my recommendation for an inexpensive day in the Smokies full of fun for the family.

Pack up a picnic lunch, filled with lots of goodies for an all day adventure, fried chicken, sandwiches, chips, you know the usual good southern foods.  LOL!

Just a little ways outside of Pigeon Forge, is a cozy little town called Townsend, this is where you will find the River Rat, I would get there around noonish, go for a couple of floats down the river, usually takes about an hour for each tubing down the river and back to the starting point again(of which you have a bus to take you back to start all over again).  Then settle back for that picnic lunch and a little rest, head back to the river for some more tubing, by this time its getting to be late afternoon.

No better time than now to get all dried off and head onto Cades Cove just down the road, another must do in the Great Smoky Mountains and it is free, a motor driving trail where you can learn about the history of the early settlers and see wildlife, most of the time some bears if your lucky in the late evenings as most of the animals come out to have dinner in the pastures. Best time to view feedings and see wildlife is between 5:30 and 7:45 in the evening, it can take about as little as 1 1/2 hours to 3 or 4 hours, depending on how much your family wants to see, such as the old churches and first settler homes.  I would allot at least 2 hours for a decent tour, my family usually stays about 3, we take pictures and stop quite a few times though, there are restrooms at park entrance and midway through.   A quiet relaxing way to end the day, before heading back to the Beary Blessed Cabin for some steaks on the grill, a dip in the hot tub and a movie for the evening for the family.

See a day that is in expensive and fun for the whole family.  Be sure to visit the links and to bring your towels and bathing suits!!!

Regular rate is $13.00 per person. Children five and under are FREE!
Tubing rates are for all day tubing, so once you pay you can take as many trips as you like.
