Cherokee Day Trip While Visiting the Smokies

Looking for a fun day trip to do with the family this summer, then why not visit Cherokee! Filled with the rich history of the Cherokee Indians, shopping and many fun things to learn about and enjoy.

Let your children explore the Oconaluftee Indian Village and learn about the traditions of the Indians, a teaching lesson on vacation.  Oconaluftee Indian Village is a place where you can step back in time to the 18th century.  Come experience the craft demonstrations of the Cherokees, and meet historical Cherokee people in the living history section.  Special shows throughout the season such as "Time of War" and traditional Cherokee dancing. What a great way for your family to learn about the way of life for the Cherokee Indians.

Do not go away and not experience the Unto the Hills outdoor drama which is a must and will leave you with a greater appreciation for what the Indians endured on the unforgettable "Trail of Tears"

"Unto These Hills" is an outdoor drama that tells the story of the Cherokee Indians.  It is filled with action, betrayal, love and suspense, it is a once in a lifetime experience.  Talented actors in full costume of Cherokee attire will keep you on the edge of your seat as they dance and sing, among the beautiful sets filled with fog and fire, haunting music and thundering sound effects.

This will be a trip that your whole family will carry with them throughout their lifetime as they learn about the richness and heritage of the Cherokee Indians.
